During COVID, I realized how much I missed live performances. When restrictions were lifted, I made it a goal to see live performances. Live music is my church, and the music is my religion. The painting is based on a still shot I took at The Fox Theatre in Oakland, featuring Nick Cave and Warren Ellis on the Carnage Tour. I did not include the performers in the painting because I wanted it to represent any performing artist, entertaining, enlightening, and creating a communal spirit.
